Elena is the oldest daughter of Ana Decobray and Duke Hauser, Elena was just over a year old when Duke proposed to Ana just before he had to leave to go on another call of duty for the military. It was during that time that it was believed that Ana's brother Rex was killed, Duke was too guilty that he couldn't bring Rex back that he couldn't face Ana again, So he left her.
Growing up Elena spent a lot of time with her mother, Tom and Jessica. Jessica often looked after Elena when Ana was training with Tom. However when Both Ana and Tom was taken over by Cobra Jessica took both Elena and Kim out of harms way, making Duke face up to his responisblities with Elena.
Now Elena has met and fallen for Damon Salvatore, she knows he's a vampire but she isn't scared..... not anymore, she knows he would never hurt her.
